It seems like all the people I have talked to from Australia who were accepted into the Harvard and Stanford ect. were entrepreneurs and developers.
Whilst I’m not a developer, I am an entrepreneur and have had a few small ventures including local community projects to encourage teen entrepreneurship.
Will coming from Australia be a hook or a weakness since it is more competitive? And will being an entrepreneur be a hook since Stanford is a very entrepreneurial school - hence why I would love to attend there. Attending a school with like-minded individuals is a dream. Something that cannot be achieved in Australia where everyone attends the same school.
My SAT is pretty good, grades decent, ATAR is predicted to be between a 96-98 which would place me in the top 2%-4%.
Extra-curriculars are purely entrepreneurship haha, never was into sport although I attended tennis lessons for one year in Grade 9 (something I probably wouldn’t put down).
Internationals don’t get many spots in the class, so you’d really have to be the best of the best in your country to get in. That said, whether entrepreneurship is a hook is dependent on how far you’ve taken your ventures. Just being an entrepreneur is no good; how much did you develop your ventures? Is there a focus or theme to your ventures? How many years have you spent on this? And what successes or failures have you had? If your ventures are on a national/international level, then it would probably be a great hook. If they are only on the community level or regional level, it probably won’t be of too much help.
Read up on what S says about what they look for. And the rounding all top schools expect. They arent just looking for kids who want like minded peers.
S may foster entrepreneurship, but most kids don’t realize just starting something isn’t a tip. You’d need to pull thus together in a way that makes sense to them.
No, entrepreneurship isn’t a hook. It’s a strong EC but that’s it.apply widely and look into Babson.
