I wanted to take APUSH and AP Spanish junior year, however I missed both of these classes' cutoffs "by inches", meaning that I will not be in any APs next year as I hoped to be. I do, however, plan to self study a few over the next TWO years: APUSH, AP Micro, AP Macro, AP Chinese, AP Computer Science A, and AP Stats. I also plan to take APs senior year: AP Physics, AP Music Theory, (AP?) English, AP Calc BC, and AP Euro. I want to get into NYU Poly and major in Computer Science and my school offers a bunch of AP courses, so will not having AP classes junior year harm my college dreams and can I maybe get my self studies on my college application?

Not taking any classes junior year should not be a problem as long as you self study several. Just explain it on your College application and you’ll be fine. However, it is very important you do well on the AP exams, if not you’ll just end up wasting your time.

It may hurt your chance by not showing a rigorous course load. Nevertheless, some high schools only let senior students take AP classes. So it will depend on your HS profile.
