I go to a private school with really stringent rules on AP classes. Because I only had an 89 in Pre-AP US history, they won't let me take AP US History. I don't qualify for AP Bio, and I can't take AP Lit or AP Comp until senior year. My school has a four-pronged leveling system, excluding AP: H1 carries the most weight (it's equivalent to Pre-AP), Honors has a bit of weight, but I'm not sure how much, CP1 is unweighted, and if you take CP classes you get points taken off of your GPA.

English III- Honors 1
Creative Writing- Honors (only level offered)
Microbiology- Honors 1
Anatomy and Physiology- Honors 1
Pre-Calculus- Honors (I'm bad at math)
French III-Honors 1
US History II- Honors 1

I'm also self-studying AP Biology.

Does this ruin my chances at getting into colleges? I was looking at Northeastern, BC, UMASS Dartmouth, and UCONN.

Having no AP classes doesn’t necessary means that you will be ruled out by colleges. IT you manage to get good grade and a great SAT/ACT scores then you are doing well. Also colleges will learn what your school is like when you send your transcript . But for those school I would definitively take some AP senior year (you might have to send senior year schedule to colleges as well).

Yea, that is a good plan. It is also worth mentioning that some people here with crazy AP schedule are somewhat people to avoid. You seem to have plenty of honors classes which also look good to colleges. As long as you can keep it together and finish strong.

Get your parent involved.
How disappointed the parent is that you can’t take US History AP because of missing by a few points, blah, blah, blah.
It’s worth a shot.
Make the school defend their policy of making a 90 on the pre test.

@pracarious No, but make sure you take some Senior year, colleges like to see AP classes. I’m not saying take a lot like most people on here, but just enough that will satisfy your needs.

I didn’t take any junior year either, because I transferred schools and had to take all these makeup classes so I could graduate on time. But next year I’m taking AP Biology and AP Psychology. It honestly depends on what college you’re applying to as to what they think of your schedule. You can always call/email their admissions office and ask them about your circumstances :)

I was only eligible for AP US and AP Lit my Junior year and I took neither. I’m still in good standing for most colleges I’m looking at. As long as you get straight A’s in your honors you’re fine. Just stack up on APs senior year and make sure to send in your schedule.
