Is it bad to start things your junior year? I mean I've been doing things since my freshman year (clubs, sports, etc) but I started most of my volunteering my junior year of hs....will people think im just doing those things for colelge?

Well you are doing these things just for college. Aren’t you?

If you can take on the commitment, I say go for it. Even if colleges do think that you’re doing it just to get in, they’re going to be more impressed than they would if you just didn’t do it.

…unless you don’t mean colleges when you say “people,” in which case, who gives a rip? I’m sure people will just be glad that you’re helping out.

Yeah probably… but better late than never.

Not necessarily.

To volunteer at my library, you have to be 16 and my birthday is April, so I pretty much had to wait until after sophomore year. Plus, to tutor at the nearby elementary school I had to be a junior, as with the two honor societies I’m heavily involved in.

So four of my ECs I couldn’t start until this year, and maybe yours are like that, too.
