Is it bad to take AP tests during senior year?

I'm a junior this year and I'm taking 3 AP classes but only taking one AP test- APUSH. I was also going to take the AP language and composition test, but my dad told me not to because I'm going to be busy with SAT subject tests next month and I need this month to prep. In English class the teacher gives out diagnostic tests on AP reading passages, and I got a 100% on the last one, and didn't do so badly on the previous ones.

I was planning on taking the AP Lit/Comp, AP language and Comp, AP bio, AP Euro, AP Calc AB(?) tests next year, but is it not even worth it taking it senior year? I' heard that Ivy League schools only accept 4-5, and if a student gets a 4 or 5 he/she still has to take the class. I also heard that AP classes/test scores are more helpful with admissions. Is this true?

Thanks a bunch. :)

All I know is that the UCs like you to take the tests, and my sons are taking a ton senior year. (one is taking five.) Mind you, they are very busy as seniors, and their minds are no longer on high school, and the tests may only remove what I would call ‘remedial’ requirements at the UCs. But the credits will give them priority for registration, which is a good thing at the UCs. They are not going to Ivies, and perhaps priority for registration is not an issue there.

I would not base AP test taking strategy on the Ivies until you are actually admitted to an Ivy League School and then you can decide which AP tests to take next May based upon the credit policies of the college you will be attending. Yes, Ivy League schools limit the amount of AP credit; Dartmouth gives none. AP Classes will build more rigor into your schedule which is a positive from an admissions point of view.

I looked into AP credit acceptance at different schools and found that some schools that I originally believed to be non-AP credit accepting colleges/universities do in fact accept 4-5 on certain AP tests for gen-ed credits. I’m not applying Dartmouth so that’s good. Thanks so much skieurope and collegevetting.
