Is it beneficial to continue participating in piano to help get into college?

Hello College Confidential,

I have been taking private piano lessons for 8 years now, and through these lessons I participate in many recital programs (such as the MTAC music teacher's association of California) or the National College of Musicians Guild Program.

This past year, I received my High School Diploma in Social Music, and I was wondering if I should continue taking piano lessons for the remainder of my two years at high school. I will be entering the 11th grade this coming Fall.

I have lost a large amount of interest in continuing to play piano in general, primarily due to the more difficult and (in my opinion) boring nature of the Classical songs. My question is: Should I just pull through and finish off my high school years taking lessons and doing the recitals, or should I quit and back out before the next "lesson season" starts in August?

I am worried that even if I decide to try and find more enjoyable songs next year, I will not have enough time to pursue them. My past Sophomore year I only had one AP Class, but next year I will have 3 AP Classes and I wish to maintain my straight A average (which I have done so far very easily, although I recognize it gets SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult). I also will be doing SAT and ACT test prep throughout the year.

Other Notes:

There is a higher High School Diploma that is NOT in Social Music. I have not received this one.

I am also an active participant in Boy Scouts (Eagle Scout Bronze Palm), triathlete, and High School Varsity Golf (but only in the spring-time).

Thank you all in advance for your advice.
