How does this process work?

You will remain in chosen college for first year. You can attempt to change for entry into sophomore year for which you would apply for transfer about midway through second semester first year, although later in semester for business college. For business college transfer into sophomore year will be the only chance you will ever have to get into it but for others you can also attempt a later transfer into second semester sophomore year or junior year. You must get approval of college and department to which you are transferring to make the transfer (you go through an application process that will also require essays). You must also meet minimum course requirements which essentially means you need to take the same courses that freshmen (and sophomores if transferring later) take who are actually in the major to which you want to transfer. There are also minimum GPA requirements. Meeting all the minimum requirements gets you considered for transfer not necessarily in. Difficulty in being allowed an inter-college transfer and GPA needed ranges from the business college, for which you should assume it is very difficult to transfer into, to most Arts & Sciences majors for which it is fairly easy (although some of those are more difficult). If you attempt transfer into sophomore year, high school record and test score are still used to evaluate along with college grades, and preference is given to those who would have been admitted to the applicable program freshman year if they had applied for it then. If you seek transfer later, high school record and test score become irrelevant.
