I'm a high school senior who will likely attend Case next fall. Throughout high school, I did not have a social life because no one really accepted me since I first set foot into the building five years ago. People ostracize and judge me before even getting to know me and label me as stuck-up and arrogant. I always get picked on because people see that I don't really have any true friends at school. I will try to be more social in college, but I would also like to know if college students are more mature, open, and accepting of differences.

Bump. Any students out there?

I’m wondering the same thing…

Well, if people don’t like you, there’s most likely a reason. I would pinpoint that reason and fix it. But, that’s just me. To answer your question, if you go somewhere like Case, where academics is the primary focus, the students you meet are more likely to be mature. Don’t worry about it. Just be nice to people, and they’ll be nice to you back.

Don’t worry about it. Be open and social and you won’t really have a problem anywhere. And yes, students at Case are a bit more mature in my experience.

Case people are nice and down to earth. Just join some clubs and get involved with a few other activities, and I think you’ll be fine.

I know that I made a couple of mistakes socially in high school, but I also think the kids at my school aren’t the easiest to get along with. I can’t wait to go college where everyone is new and I can start fresh and build a new name for myself.

I had the same question, but coming from a different background. Personally I’ve always had many friends in high school and I’m looking for the social college experience. However, I do consider myself mature as well as hard working. I’m just afraid that everyone there will be “nerdy.” Is this true?

It’s Highschool.
I’ve found that most people are still very young in their maturity and level of thinking.
I hope things are better for you at Case…this Fall?
I too will be attending~ So see ya there? :3
And Lady Lunarose, I kinda do see where you’re coming from. I kinda feel the same way.
I visited yesterday, and yes, Picture the nerdy kids are your highschool now…
Yeah, you’ll see a lot of people like that just walking around campus.
Anyways, I guess I’ll have to focus on things more important than :o

When you go everyone is pretty open especially in the first couple weeks. What you shouldn’t do is try to make yourself seem like someone you aren’t. I am currently a freshman and though I wasn’t that social in high school when I came here I made friends easily. However, there are some people who acted like someone they weren’t and now are not really comfortable with the friends they made because honestly they aren’t actually anything like them. Just be yourself and be open, it will be fine.

^ will keep that in mind!
