my major is ChemE at Cal Poly Pomona and during my orientation, most classes i needed to register for in my major (chemistry, physics, intro to chemE) were closed/waitlisted.

i’m considering the “four year pledge” for my school which basically ensures you complete 25percent of your major/road map each year and get my bachelor’s in 4 years (instead of 4 1/2 - 5, just some people say this is not worth it as it is “too hard/info doesn’t sink in” as it crams all core classes together…

also just wondering would it be harder to find classes at a CC?

I don’t know what chemistry or math courses you need to take. If you have priority registration because of seniority or having so many x units, it’s easy to get classes at a CC. You can take three semesters of physics (at most CC’s, it was what I could at mine) and then General Chem I/II and Organic Chem I/II.

As for your upper-division courses, you have no choice but to take them at a CSU.

If you’re just out of high school, you’re going to have a lot of trouble getting into classes at a community college. Similar to what CalDud said and in my experience, CC’s have a list of priorities for enrolling in classes. So a new student with no prior units is going to be at the very bottom of that list. Usually the only classes left at that point are bs classes that students get into just so that they can get some college credit to bump them up to the next priority.
