Is it harder to get accepted to UF/FSU if you have Fl. prepaid?

I just read an article someone posted here from a recent Palm beach paper. It said:
"Q: How do FSU and UF feel about Prepaid contracts?

A: Both have complained that current contracts don't cover the costs, and they are required to subsidize these students' education.

"We're losing about $6 to $8 million a year, and I don't think that's sustainable going forward," UF President Bernie Machen said. "I don't think that model will work, because you're not able to predict costs 10 to 20 years downstream."Q: If the universities are losing money on students with Prepaid contracts, is it possible they could limit enrollment of students with prepaid contracts or stop taking them all together?

A: FSU spokeswoman Browning Brooks said she's not aware of any discussions to do that. UF officials couldn't be reached Friday or Monday.".....

So, I'm just wondering what the reality is. I guess the school knows up front if you are a prepaid kid. I had no idea that the school lost money in that deal. Does that/will that affect acceptance?

Florida Pre-Paid doesn’t cover everything. I have it for tuition and still have to pay about $40 per credit hour. UF isn’t losing out, I am. And, for people that have it for housing, you can only choose from the cheaper dorms unless you want to pay the difference. So, again, UF isn’t losing anything…

I got in with a FPP plan. So, no, I don’t think it makes it harder.

If there’s a tuition increase, FPP pays more, UF doesn’t.

Heybails- I’m sure what you said is true, but Machen’s statement clearly states that UF is taking a financial hit that is not sustainable, so I think the OP’s question still stands.

D accepted with a FL Prepaid. She is going elsewhere. We’ll cash it in to pay for a junior year study abroad experience. It didn’t negate D’s acceptance.
