Is it impossible to get into a 4-year university with a 2.02 GPA, 1800+ Sat Score

if you have the money you could get into a lot of relatively prestigious LACs like Bard, Goucher, Skidmore, etc. if you wrote some sob story to appeal to all the liberal apologists who work in admissions at those schools. You might be able to get into McGill, U of T or UBC if you apply…they’re so big sometimes they just let random people in.

The top Canadian schools will be near-impossible–they admit by the numbers, and a 2.02 GPA will kill your chances.

No way you can get into McGill.

HAHAHAHAHA omg this is funny

Too bad you are not a D-1 athlete.

BU general studies is a good match. Temple is a match/slight reach but you should apply to these schools regardless.

The story painted by the low GPA/high SAT is of a student who could do the work, but didn’t do it - and that’s not going to get you into colleges where your SATs alone are a fit. That’s why its so important to focus on colleges that fit your GPA, or where your GPA is just a bit low. If your GPA is just a bit low for them, then the SATs will help, absolutely. But you can’t apply to UConn or SUNY Stony Brook, where your SATs are a fit, and expect to get in - your GPA is too low.

If you have a good story behind that GPA, it may be a different story. But even then, consider any school like Stony Brook or even Hunter College to be very much reach schools for you right now. In other words, if you love them, do apply, but have a good list of backups in case you don’t get in.

Some schools in NY/NJ/PA that I strongly believe you have a chance at include: CUNY Medgar Evers, Globe Institute of Technology, Central Pennsylvania College, Albertus Magnus College, Dowling College, the College of Westchester, College of St. Elizabeth, Felician College, Dominican College of Blauvelt, D’Youville College, Long Island University (CW Post), SUNY Maritime, Centenary College, Paul Smith’s College, any branch of Penn State except University Park, St. Thomas Aquinas College, Caldwell College, and John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

As reaches, I’m thinking of College of Mt. St. Vincent, Georgian Court University, Mercy College, Kean U, St. Francis College.

The only CUNYs I think may work are Medgar Evers and John Jay.

Another option, which other posters have suggested, is to go to community college. If you go to cc and do well there, you can transfer into a very strong school, including some of the better CUNYs. Your low high school GPA will no longer matter, as your college grades will be considered far more important.

Once again, CGS is not a match, and Temple is most certainly not a match.

You could probably get into Temple. It would be a reach though.

Schools that you would almost definitely get into:

Le Moyne College
D’Youville College
Nazareth College
SUNY Morrisville

Temple will not take an athlete with a 2.0, so they certainly wont take a student.

Temple absolutely takes athletes with a 2.0.

My friend’s dad is a high school fb coach. Years ago he had a kid that was a tremendous talent but a poor student. The kid went on the play in the NFL for a long time. Penn state wanted him desperatly but he couldnt get into school–he ended up at Temple.

This is Temple data from collegeboard.

2% had h.s. GPA between 2.0 and 2.49

It’s unlikely, even with an 1800 that the OP will get in. Maybe a few athletes somehow got in, but obviously it doesn’t happen often.

Which player was this? Unless it was Raheem Brock (and even so…) our standards are significantly higher than they used to be. I know what GPA our basketball and football players have, and none of them had 2.0s in HS. A 2.0 isn’t even an NCAA clearing GPA…

Im pretty sure if he raises his gpa to 2.5 he is a shoe in @ Temple its really not a competitive school to get into.

It’s not Harvard, but it’s far from being open admission like it used to be. 3.0 1700 doesn’t get you into Temple anymore.

Could also apply to Robert Morris University - suburb of Pittsburgh

so please give my reach, range, and safety!

I got in w/a 2.97 and 23 composite.

Have you considered the SUNY technology colleges – these are schools, which like John Jay incuded both 2 yr and limited 4yr programs. Students can take a liberal arts base and transfer or stay for 4 years, but very very limited majors. Anyone with a 1800 SAT should be able to get grades up and transfer. They incude SUNY Delhi, Morrisvill, Alfred State

In nursing…
