Is it impossible

for a high school senior (as in graduating '09) to get a paid summer internship (grudge work and making coffee is completely fine) in advertising, communications, law, or something in that general area in this economy? My parents work in finance and they told me they'd look into it so I'll obviously take whatever I can get but I'm hoping to find something I'm actually interested in although I'm realizing this might be impossible.

I've been looking at small advertising businesses (should I be looking at larger ones?) and on most of their websites, in the career section (even under internships tabs), it leaves no specifications or anything - just to email resumes & cover letters. Should I just solicit everyone I can and hope for the best or is it not even worth trying?

well, it is certainly easier to get an internship if you know someone who works there and can offer you one.
