<p>I’m not a big fan of chance threads. </p>
<p>There are just too many variables to consider for kids trying to get admitted as freshman. My best friend applied to Hopkins as a reach school. I say it was a reach because his SATs were probably between 150-200 points below Hopkins average (1600 point scale) for admitted students. He got in and is doing pretty well there (3.6ish).</p>
<p>While chance threads are basically useless for high schoolers, transfer threads are much more useful because transferring is almost all about GPA and course selection.</p>
<p>I highly doubt enough people manipulate their stats for these numbers to not be representative of a good number of the kids on CC.</p>
