it’s always cheaper to live in a house/ apartment sharing a room with 2-3 people than to live in the dorms

i would want an apartment, it has a more independent feel to it than a dorm does.

ima bring my minivan and live in there if i get into berkeley. if i go to USC i’ll just live in the streets and beg for money

ur gonna get shot on the streets around USC

You think Berkeley is expensive! Westwood is the epitome of ripoff housing.

I’m still debating dorm vs. apartment. Don’t know how well they go with transfers…

If anyone here has a child (student parent) & intends on going to Cal, make sure you sign up for family student housing now, some of the apartments at the UC Village have long waiting lists and you can apply for them before you even get your admissions decisions.

hahaha… no. You have to bring your own car to sleep in. I have a truck with a camper that i would sleep in.

But even if i don’t do that… i have seen rooms for share under 400 (which is the most i am willing to pay) pretty consistently at Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD with SD being the cheapest.

under 400!? at berk? the ones i looked at where lik 1500 - 2000 (total) for 2 bed, 2 bath, and parking space

yeppers… and if you shared the bedrooms… 16/4 is 400 a person =). Often enough you have to take the living room or even share the living room for that kind of cheap though.

Also, i looked into some one room studios that were something like 700 a month at Berkeley. With two people living there, thats 350 each and not so crowded. Although they didn’t have a kitchen :D

Can I buy a bomb-ass tent and live in gardens at Berkeley? We could get a colony together or something. We could have a tent city and community center.

Likewise in Oakland.

$700 studios!? Tell me where! Most I’m seeing are like $1000-1100. :(

I saw a sweet new york loft style apartment across the street from the front of Berkeley for 1,000 a month. Too bad I can’t reserve that crap now. Hopefully I find something very close to campus like that.

which site r u guys looking at for huosing? craigslist?

yeppers… craigslist is the only way to go as far as i can tell.

well i’ve seen one for 700. This is one for 750:

"$750 available NOW! Close to campus, steps from Telegraph! (berkeley) (map)

Hello!
This is a studio apartment that shares a kitchen (with an adjacent studio) but has it’s own private entrance and bathroom. There’s laundry on-site, and water and garbage are included. It is 3 blocks from UC Berkeley and steps away from Telegraph and all of it’s bounty- restaurants, shopping, public transportation, and more!
If you’d like more info, please give us a call.
