I wanted to know is it more important to take an AP course at the school (which might screw up your unweighted GPA somewhat), and in that case many AP courses, or rather take easier courses at school (not that many AP courses) and spend time at home preparing for numerous AP exams? I know everyone would say that the course will help to do well on the exam.. but AP courses require a lot of extra work, and if I am trying to do multiple exams, I am better studying alone. Actually, AP classes require 95% personal work into it. So I believe I am better off just studying by myself to complete these AP exams and do well on them HOWEVER WHAT DO COLLEGES PREFER? Do they prefer to see the AP courses, or are they okay with not taking the course and doing well on the exam? (example: instead of taking AP Biology or Honors Physics at school, I would just take regular physics and anatomy/physiology, but study for the biology ap exam and physics b ap exam by myself, and i end up passing them both)

i took all AP classes and studied maybe only 1 hour at home the day before the exam.
if you take classes you barely have to study at home and you definitely don’t have to cram. you get a lot more free time at home to do whatever you want. (that’s assuming you keep up with your coursework throughout the year and you have a good teacher, if your teacher isn’t good you might need to study a bit at home)

For what it’s worth, I got 5s on Chemistry, Biology, Calc BC, US History, Statistics, English Language, Computer Sci, and a 4 on English Literature
