The importance of AP courses in Senior Year

I just opened an account and i have so many questions to ask. My main concern right now is choosing the courses I want to take next year. I am a junior right now and I take all honor classes and AP Biology. Since i just moved to the US I didn't have much an opportunity to take AP classes previously. I plan on taking AP Psychology, AP Lit and Composition, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus AB, and Anatomy and Physiology. Will taking all these AP courses really be worth it in my senior year? And lastly most of the colleges I'm considering require 2 SAT subject tests. Will one AP exam and one subject test be enough?

Yes, taking AP courses is definitely worth it. Doing them your senior year is better because it shows colleges that you’re not a slacker, provided you maintain good grades in them. For testing, you must take two SAT subject tests because AP tests do not equate to subject tests.

So should I just take a Biology Subject test even if I’m taking the AP exam?

An AP class should be adequate prep for a subject test. However, you will not be able to take the subject test in any class you’re taking senior year until after you’ve finished the course, which is too late for admissions!

Kevinjuan is correct; 1 AP test and 1 subject test do not equal 2 subject tests. Don’t try to get around the rules–2 subject tests are required. Sometimes the college will even recommend the ones to take (for my top school, it was required that prospective engineering students take Math II and Physics).

Okay thanks a lot. I’m majoring in Biology so that won’t be a problem.
