Is it ok to only take the act once?

So I got my ACT score today and I got a 34 which I am incredibly pleased with. I’m not looking to go to a really prestigious school like an ivy or anything, I am most likely either going to Iowa or Iowa State so a 34 should suffice. However, is it bad if I didn’t take it any other times to show consistency or is it cool that I just took it once?

Yes. It is completely fine. Don’t take it more than you need to. Colleges usually prefer students that take it only once versus a student that has taken it 3 or 5 times to achieve the same score. Congrats!

Congrats and you are done! And that is a great score. No school ever asks for more than one or thinks more is better. Mine took SAT once and that was it too. Yes there was a small room for improvement but there are always other more important things to do.

Excellent score! No need to retake with those target schools unless you get more merit $ for a higher score (unlikely but I don’t know much about those two schools).

Focus your efforts elsewhere. And congrats!

One should treat each attempt as the final test anyway. No one expect you to take it more than once. The really question is does it reflect your current level? If your current practice score is between 33 and 34, I think you are all set. Unless you have been getting 34 or higher in practice and you think you should be able to achieve a higher score, then you may want to give it another trial so that you may have a higher chance to get merit scholarships.

You are done. Once with a great score is preferable, and saves you time and money as well.

At a 34 there is a greater chance it will go down than go up if you retake it. Overall about a 70% chance it will go down or remain the same.
