Sorry if this topic was already beaten to death, but I can’t find any issues similar to mine. I was already accepted into SJSU, but I only discovered today that I already sent my AP World History and AP Lit with both scores of 2. Will these scores affect me in any way whatsoever, even after being accepted? Is it too late to withhold, or does it even matter at this point?
No it doesn’t matter, you just wont get college credit for these subjects.
Alright, thanks a lot.
They’re not great scores, but if you’ve already been accepted your acceptance won’t get rescinded.
A college won’t rescind your acceptance over low AP scores. You’re already in, so don’t worry about it.
For future applicants reading this, don’t send a score of 2, or even three. When applying, colleges want to see scores of four and five. However, there are many colleges that will accept scores of three for a few subjects, notably foreign language. Once accepted, by all means send a three if the college gives credit for it.
If you’re sending scores to the college you are attending, after your senior year exams, like most people do, they all get sent with that free report, and the college gives you credit as it chooses, usually for scores of four or five. The lower scores don’t hurt you, but they don’t get you college credit either. If you are sending AP scores as part of your application, only send or self report scores of four or five.
I disagree with not sending 3’s. A 3 on an AP test is nothing to be ashamed of. UC’s and CSU’s, and many other schools, give credit for a 3 on an AP test. They should be sent even during the app process if you took the class as a junior and took the test and it doesn’t hurt perception based on major you are applying to. Otherwise it appears you were lazy and didn’t take test or got bad score. Now if you are applying engineering and get a 3 on AP Calc, perhaps not, but a 3 on AP Lit isn’t going to hurt you in any way. But if I was an applying engineer with a 3 on AP Calc, I would sure take the subject test to bring up my math skills.
