Is it okay to take online courses?

I’m attending Community College this fall and I’m considering taking an Online Course (Developmental Psychology) due to the fact that I am not able to attend the class at its available times…

I’m curious as to know if taking an online course will affect me negatively?

Cause I’ve heard some people state that some top tier schools do not view online courses positively (because of how easy it is to cheat) and some do not accept the credit (especially for professional studies like Pharmacy and Physical Therapy).

I’m currently interested in furthering my education in the medical field (I’m not particularly sure which field yet), and I’ve already heard that its a bit more difficult for community college students to continue their education within the medical field, so is it okay for me to take an online course?

Online sections of courses taught at my CC show up on my transcript exactly the same as traditional, face-to-face classes. As far as my CC is concerned, it is the same class.

If that advice (that top tier schools don’t like online courses) is true, it may be aimed more at online-only schools.

In general, do look closely at ANY class you take at a CC and whether your most likely “destination” school will take it, and in exchange for what course. Many schools are selective about which courses are “good enough” to transfer. Some will transfer the credit, but for a lesser version of the class or just for general credits.

Agree with @flatKansas. The transcript for the online college class that my son took during high school did not indicate whether it was the online section or the regular classroom section. He received elective credit for it when he went to college (not the kind of credit that satisfies course requirements for his degree), but he was fine with that.
