I was just wondering in our final days of making a school choice what people mean when they say Lawrenceville is competitive. My daughter likes Lawrenceville, but many of the people we have talked to said it is competitive. Does this mean cut throat or simply challenging. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I’ve heard people say Lawrenceville is competitive, and that’s from students who don’t go there. I think they meant that they felt a little intimidated, probably by the big campus setting, and it came off as a feeling of competitiveness.
The students never said it was competitive (except house rivalry, pride, etc), and everything looks pretty happy. :/

Did the students or people who’ve visited tell you that? I’m not really sure what it means, either, but I never thought Lawrenceville felt competitive. Or does competitive mean “on rank with top schools.”

I know you probably made your decision already but from what I have heard Lawrenceville is actually one of the more relaxed prep schools out there.

Naw, its pretty chill, especially freshman year, freshman fall is pass/fail for 3 out of the 5 classes. I guess you’ll find some people that are competitive with their classmates, but most people have better things to do then worry about how one of their friends has a .1 higher GPA.

L’ville is like a mini- man of Wall St.

erlanger- what do u mean?
