Is it possible for me to be admitted into top schools?

So I am the first one in my family to go through the college admissions process. I come from a south-eastern high school where most kids who are successful go to our state schools. I need help figuring out if I applied to the right schools/what are my chances (probably guessed based on the subforum). Anyway here goes nothing.

Essays:
Common App Essay was on my adjustment to moving constantly during my childhood and then moving from the west coast to the east coast right before high school. Talked about adjusting to constant change and finding confidence in who I am as a person. Mentioned David Foster Wallace’s Kenyon grad speech and my Rheumatoid Arthritis as two main influential events

Supplements were generally about one of my experiences putting on events for the underprivileged. Pretty vanilla topic.

I want to major in Bio-Medical Engineering/Physics with a minor in cultural studies or a language.

and I’m a first generation white dude. I know that can affect admissions decisons sometimes.

Thanks for any help that you might be able to give!

If any other information is needed, just ask in the comments. I’ll respond as promptly as possible.

This is definitely a hook especially at the most selective schools, who are all fighting over a small pool of high-achieving first-generation students like yourself with 1500+ SAT CR+M scores.

Good to know. From looking at my information, would you say I have a decent shot at Swarthmore/Emory? Those are my two top choices/best bets for college. I really want to study Engineering/Science in a liberal arts environment and then go on and do research involving tissue design.

Also apologies if my chance thread is poorly formatted or I have information missing. This is my first time doing something like this so I’m still working out all the kinks hahah.
