Hi, I just got my acceptance letter to UCSD and I was wondering if its too late for me to change my major. On my application I was put down structural engineering but I want to change that to marine biology or psychology. Is there a way for me to do that? Would it affect my admission?

I’m assuming you’re a freshman. Yes, you can change your major, people do it all the time. Looks like the info’ll be somewhere around here: [How to Declare or Change a Major (Undergraduates)](How to Declare or Change a Major (Undergraduates))

Yes, I’m a freshman both excited and nervous about the upcoming year. Thanks for your reply. Do you think my admission will become affected by a switch in major?

Yes, you can change your major as much as you want. You usually have until your second semester sophomore year to change your major. Unless you are changing to an extremely competitive and difficult subject, you can usually change without any kind of problem. Keep in mind that, if you aren’t sure yet, you may want to change it to undecided and take a class in each prospective major to make a decision. Call your school’s academic records office and ask who you would need to speak to, and when.
