I'm from OOS. I currently have a cumulative 3.8 GPA unweighted and I got a 1240(CR/M) on my SAT but I'll be taking a rigorous SAT prep class before re-taking it in October. My father is an alumnus, if that helps.
Is looking at UM completely ridiculous? Or is it within my reach with my grades and SAT score?

Depends on weighted GPA, ECs, and if you can get that SAT up. You haven’t given enough info to know.

Also, are you aware that you won’t be getting financial aid?

Why would you make a comment like that leah? I had a 30 ACT and I received a huge scholarship from LSA + need based aid. It’s not impossible to get something decent with average stats…

That’s surprising, from out of state? Based on U Mich’s website and past posters, very few applicants receive aid from OOS. Many posters have verified this, including those with 34+ ACTs who did not receive aid. Michigan does not pledge to meet need for OOS students, and rarely, if ever, does do.

If you are in state, that is very different.

Yes I’m an OOSer from Illinois. I was surprised too, but it’s clearly not impossible to receive sufficient aid from Michigan even if someone is OOS with decent ACT scores/GPA.

rn your a reach if you can pull up your sat scores 100 points I think you would be more of a match
