well... is it?

Yup! My friend knows someone who transfered from Davis to Berkeley to UCLA. Apparently, however, 97% of transfers accepted are from CC and the last 3% come from 4 year universities (because of an agreement with community colleges and they already figure you're stable in a 4 year university). But its definitely do-able.

It's possible on paper. However... One of the proposals floated in the recent CA budget crisis was restricting the transfers accepted by UC schools to those from Community Colleges. Now I don't have a crystal ball -- but if you think the CA financial crisis is over and done you might be relieved they didn't adopt the proposal, if you think it may replay this fall like it has the last several years then this is something to consider.

Get a 3.7 and there is hope. It is hard though. I think the minimum GPA accepted as a UC transfer to UCLA is 3.5.

I believe Merced is doing a program where you spend your first two years at Merced, and then you are guaranteed into UCLA as long as you maintain a specific GPA. I'm pretty sure that is the most successful method for transferring to UCLA.

the program at Merced exists, but unfortunately its "invitation-only". You have to be rejected from UCLA but invited to apply to Merced under the guarantee. See an article about it from the Cal newspaper last year at Select UC Merced Admits Offered Guaranteed Transfer - The Daily Californian or from the UCLA paper at http://dailybruin.ucla.edu/news/2007/apr/03/program_merced_draw_students/
