Is it possible to finish IGETC after transferring to UC?

Hmmm It seems that they wouldn’t transfer to SMC, they are just a separate transcript. I’m not exactly sure what you’re saying but if I am reading it correctly, I think it should be OK as the UC classes are comparable.

@bolandgoo Why can’t you just take online classes at SMC? If you can’t take them there, then you should try El Camino College.

I wanted to add more but this site on an iphone is becoming impossible. I couldn’t get in and I totally lost another post. Grrrrrrr.

Anyway I realize I have no idea what you are talking about. Do you mean be at UCI and take 3 classes at SMC? :-"

OT- @lindyk8 if you lose your post on an iPhone try this. I’m guessing you hit post and then you ended up on a random thread. If that happens, hit the back arrow within this site (on the bottom next to the home button), and it should take you back to your original thread with your post still in tact ready to post. It happens to me all the time.

@2016Candles‌ that’s what I do all the time. Toggle back and forth through the back and forward arrows.

I’m so careful because one false move prevents me from accessing the window I’m typing in. But lately about 25% of the time I either can’t get back in no matter how much I toggle - or if I do half of what I wrote is no longer there. Maybe it’s worse with an iphone. It’s very annoying.

I don’t like online classes anymore, I had 3 of them so far, but I feel like I miss out stuff, and I’m already getting tired of sitting behind my computer all the time, for work, fun, reading books etc. at least, I want to try delete online education from my lifestyle and see the result! :))
Also, I’d like to take my GEs in uci if possible, it’d be more fun than taking them in a CC
Perhaps I should ask a counselor at uci about this. It’s a complicated situation! lol

Online classes are a mental and spiritual drag.

you don’t have to complete your IGETC in cc, so you’re fine

Sorry Randombookie, but that statement always drives me bananas. If you want to be competitive, finishing your IGETC is indeed important.

@fullload I believe he is already accepted to UCI and just wants to know if he can finish the remaining at both UCI and SMC. To be truthful, it was a somewhat confusing post but that was how I read it. Anyway, I think @randombookie was just saying, yes, it can be done, they don’t all have to completed at CC.

Ah, ok, my bad. I didn’t read the thread thoroughly, so it’s my fault and I apologize. :)

No worries. I was all over the map with it too.

@lindyk8, thanks for clarifying for me
@fulload, It’s okay  For schools like Cal and UCLA, finishing IGETC is important, but missing one or two courses won’t lead to rejection. You can finish up IGETC at whatever school you intend to SIR to

Yeah I’ve been accepted to uci, but they have a crazy GE requirement, but if a transfer student have IGETC, he doesn’t need to complete uci’s GE requirement, I didn’t have IGETC, and 3 GE courses that I took at smc did not transfer to uci, so now I have to take them again at uci. but if I can take my IGETC while I’m at uci(I only need 4 courses), I won’t need to finish uci’s GE requirement, which needs me to take 7 courses.

Irvine Valley College is like 10-15 minutes away
