Is it possible to improve my SAT score 100 points with 2 weeks left?

So I'm taking the January SAT on January 26th and my ideal goal would be to get a 2100, yet over the past 4 practice tests I've taken the past two weeks my range has been from a 1980-2020. Is it possible to raise my score 100 points with two weeks remaining? I'm averaging around 730 on writing and a 640 on both math and reading. Is there anything I can possibly do to increase my score?

Everything is good but 640 on Math means you are under performing. You can probably bump that up to 700. Everything else looks good. Remember with only 15 days remaining, you should be breathing SAT, living SAT, eating SAT. Nothing should be on your mind except SAT. You cannot get over 2000 by watching TV or playing games. Practice as much as you can…

Any suggestions as to how I can should do that?

Post edited^. The only tip I have is practice level 4 and level 5 question. If you think a question will take more than 1.50 min or longer to solver then skip it and come back but you probably knew that already.

Okay thanks so much!

What I do is if I don’t know how to solve a problem the moment I read it, I draw a star or circle the question number and move on. And then after I finish, I go back to finish those questions up.

To improve CR, studying vocab is really helpful and can be done in a few days (if vocab is the reason you’re scoring low). If it’s becase you’re running out of time because of the long passages, experiment with different strategies (e.g. skimming the passage, then going back to read more closely as you answer the questions, or reading the passage carefully, then answering the questions (which I wouldn’t recommend, because it makes it easier to make careless mistakes), or reading the questions first, and then looking for the answers in the passage). See what method works best for you.

For math, I would recommend studying your weaker areas (I think the Blue Book says what area each question tests) and focussing on studying that. There’s no reason to study geometry, if ratios are your weakness. And make sure you read the questions carefully and avoid stupid mistakes.

Check out this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1173822-my-fast-sat-prep-guide-how-i-went-2080-2340-10-days.html</a></p>

My increase wasn’t as dramatic (100 points exactly - 2300 on first practice test to 2400), but it happened in just 1 week of intense prep. I definitely lived and breathed the SAT that week.

At this point, CR is probably going to be the hardest to raise - that is, if you haven’t already read this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/750399-how-attack-sat-critical-reading-section-effectively.html</a></p>

^The advice in there is brilliant and extremely effective.

Math and writing are much, much easier to raise with practice. I’m pretty good at math but I always make careless mistakes on the math section, so I just did tons of practice sections - I think nearly all of the practice sections in the Blue Book.

As for writing, there’s a list in the blue book of the grammar rules they expect you to know. Few questions cover other topics, so I would just know the rules really well and do a lot of practice.

You really don’t need anything aside from the Blue Book and those threads I linked you to. Good luck!

Blujourney I am in the EXACT same situation as you haha  I’m taking it in 2 weeks and my score is a stubborn 2000-2060. I’m really trying to get above 2100, and eventually a 2200-2250 (I’ll be taking it again in June). My scores are just a little different- my last test was 700 in math (DISAPPOINTING because I am very strong in math and I tutor it also!!!), 720 in writing, and a freaking 620 in CR!!! So I’m supposed to be studying like crazyyyyy right now! And I’m not really… I mean, I guess I’ve been devoting about 3-4 hours a week, which isn’t really that much. So from now on (16 days) I’m gonna live and breathe SAT I guess!!

Sorry, I didn’t answer your question haha- I’m thrilled to be in the exact same situation as someone else  I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to improve- I think an easy way to do it would definitely be brushing up on the math skills and not making silly mistakes (which is my downfall). And definitely studying the vocab for sentence completions! But, for me, it’s not the super tough words that I miss- it’s more the completely crazy ones that one would never think to study that I miss :-P
