I currently go to Santa Barbara Community College and will be transferring next fall. Ideally I would like to get accepted to UCSB as a computer engineering major. However, UCSB has recently cancelled their TAG agreement for the College of Engineering department. Now, I wish to stay here in Santa Barbara because I recently just got a job as Jr Level Programmer and I'm afraid I will be denied acceptance for the computer engineering major now that their are no guarantees. UCSB however, still have their TAG for College of Letters and Science department. I was thinking I can TAG to College of Letters and Science as a Physics major then apply as a normal applicant for the College of Engineering as a computer engineering major. This way even if I get denied as a computer engineering major, I can still secure my stay in Santa Barbara. Physics degree is my second preferred major next to computer engineering anyways.

Also here are my stats:

GPA 3.82 weighted
GPA 3.50 overall

Experience: Interned at Citrix as a software developer.
Experience 2: Computer Security Research Intern at UCSB
Experience 3: Software Developer for AS-GROUP

Probably best to check with a SBCC counselor or stop by at UCSB to check with admissions, but it is my understanding the major in your TAG app and regular app need to be the same.

No you cannot have two different majors between TAG and the regular application.

Edit: Also, how did you get a weighted GPA? All CC classes count the same I believe.

oh i thought weighted means gpa relating to my major. but yea, i spoke with a counselor today and they said the same thing. i guess ill just take my chances and apply as a normal applicant
