Question about TAG

<p>Hey everyone! Recently I found out that even if you have gotten admitted to a college for TAG you can still be rejected from you major! Is this true?!</p>

<p>For example:</p>

<p>I want to TAG UCI with Computer Science as my major (for fall 2013). I have the 3.2 minimum GPA for TAG and will have completed all the pre-reqs for the major.</p>

<p>Is there still a possibility that I will be rejected for computer science even with a TAG?</p>

<p>What would the GPA I need be?!</p>

<p>UC Irvine TAG guarantees the major as well, provided all TAG conditions are met as seen here:</p>

<p>Are you sure?? Can you really get in with only minimum requirements??</p>

<p>I just read a thread where someone was rejected from UCSC to their major (Computer Science) even thought they had completed all the TAG requirements!</p>

<p>Each tag is different for each school. Some tag will guarantee acceptance into the school but not your major.</p>

<p>@izzahyrawr something unfortunate must have happened when they submitted their TAG. They may have completed their UC Application different from their TAG application or they did not satisy the GPA requirements through Fall 2011. Those are the only two reasons I can think of when someone gets rejected even if they TAG. So just triple check your TAG application and UC Application and compare them. Lastly maintain your GPA and you are good to go!</p>

<p>If your TAG was approved for computer science and you really do meet all the requirements for TAG, then yes you will get in. They probably didn’t meet all requirements then, even though they thought they did. If you look at the matrix I linked above, UCSC TAG guarantees majors in the Baskin Engineering school. So, I don’t see why they would be rejected if their TAG was fine.</p>

<p>I know UCSD is a school that can admit you by TAG, but can deny your major.</p>
