This will be my first time taking it and thats my goal. Does anyone know if its really that hard to get? thanks

No (10 char)

Actually, a composite 28 is the 92nd percentile. Hard for most, yes. For CC'ers, not really.

Did you take the ACT PLAN assessment test as a sophomore? That should give you an idea of where your ACT Composite score would be (as a sophomore).

i took the act without any prep and scored a 30 the first time. I think if you use your time efficiently you should be okay.

the first time I took the test was during the hell week for our musical. I didn't really prepare all that much besides looking over a Princeton Review book a bit...i got a 31. I took it again in June the day after my finals with no prep and got a 34. You'll be fine if you use your time wisely and do a bit of test prep.

For ppl on this board, no. In fact, it's a bad score for majority of the ppl on here. I scored a 32 on my one and only ACT test. What I did was get Kaplan, PR, and the Real ACT book. I then studied my ass off everyday (4-6 hrs) for one month and did all the practice tests so many times (20+ full-length and over 80x individual sections) that often, I had more than 15-20 minutes left while doing a particular section.

Sacrifice your time and give it 457% effort and you'll easily get over 28.

PS - Btw, I'm no over-achiever like the rest of the students here... never finished HS so I took the GED exam last April and ACT this month. If I can do it while being out of school for over 10 years, there's no excuse why you can't.

I got a 32 without any prep, you can too!

Yeah... I got a 29 (which isnt that good) with ZERO Prep. I honestly had no clue what the test was like at all. I now know the time constraints suck. But other than that its really easy. Also I was really bored for the last passage in reading and the last portion in science and bubbled in random answers... and I got all of those wrong. If I hadn't been an idiot and did that... I could have gotten a 33!!

Bottom Line: If you are a good student, it should be easy to get a 28 if you are good at standardized tests.

I go to crappy public schools that hardly offer any APs or anything like that. No kids from my school even applied to Ivy schools. In fact, most people at my HS got from the 18-24 range on the ACT. I tried hard and I got a 28. Obviously I'm not the "average CC person".
