Is it really worth the money?+Skiiers?

I'm a Michigan resident interested in Rose Hulman. I applied to 7 schools originally(I will not get into specifics) and was accepted by all of them. Now with the date fast approaching for enrollment deposits, I find myself between 2 or 3. The issue applicable to this feed would likely be my decision between Rose Hulman and the University of Michigan. I know they're both good schools, but when it comes to cost, Rose is about 5 times the expense(8 vs. 35). I've heard a lot of good things about Rose from my family who live in Terre Haute and Michigan is very played up by everyone around here. I think Rose attracts me because I've always gone to small private schools and I think Michigan would be too big a change for me. I just don't know if my precautions are worth the 120k, as well as all the opportunities I'll be missing out on.

also: does anyone ski at RHIT? I've been on my highschool racing team for 4 years and would like to keep skiing if that feasable(I know...Indiana). Just wondering if there's anyone who goes on trips up north or out west for breaks or anything like that.

I have a son at R-H, and I think it is worth it. The quality of the personalized education and opportunities cannot be beat. (I’m assuming you are interested in engineering, math, or science.)

R-H does not have a ski team, but they do sell a “Ski Terre Haute” poster in the bookstore (LOL).

There is a yearly ski trip sponsored by the school, and of course you and some friends could always go on a trip on a weekend or break.

My son snowboards and he would be up for a trip to a mountain. We are from Colorado, so I imagine he will be bringing skiing friends home for short breaks every now and then.

Good luck on your decision.

My son is a sophomore at Rose and absolutely loves it; Rose is exactly the right school for him. They go above and beyond in terms of helping students feel at home and comfortable. You have to be willing to work really hard there but it’s not insanity like some schools I’ve heard about. My son skis and went on the annual trip this year; it was in southern Indiana; he said it was fun. It’s not Utah and it’s not Mount Bohemia (MI) however. My son has really blossomed at Rose and I am so happy he chose to go there.
