Is it REQUIRED for transfer students to speak to advisor prior to registration??

I am a transfer student and made my course requests on oasis. I know exactly what I need and want to take and have not called in to speak to an adviser.

I did not have any type of code that it asked me for when I made my course requests. Do I HAVE to call in to speak to an adviser before June 26th, or am I fine right now?

Im not sure how it is supposed to work, but i went right ahead and signed up for mine before speaking with my adviser. I eventually did speak with her, although i did not tell her i had already signed up. If you’re pretty sure you chose the classes you want, I say go for it.

im a transfer student too… just wondering if u guys received your transfer credit evaluation? i have not received mine in the mail yet…

bhud, did she give you some type of code to register or anything, or just advice?

Vandybound12:
im a transfer and I called my adviser and she just gives me advices and if you seems like you don’t like her advice she raises her voice at you saying " I ADVICE YOU TO TAKE 5 CLASSES!!!" hella times which was uncalled for but yep. Only advices whether you like it or not. and no she didn’t give me any code which was weird because I thought that’s what she was supposed to do.

Vandybound12 what do you mean when you said " request" your course? Does that mean I have to hear back from them, and that the classes I sign up for is not guarantee for fall 09?

dubcongress:
I have received mine but there are some courses still “pending” so I called Molly a couple of days ago and she told me to give them more time. They are backed up with a lot of paper work from tons of students .

and did you check your Vanderbilt email account??? If not check there because thats where I got my course evaluation.

Vandybound12, she did not give me a code at all. In fact, her advice was a tad bit… unhelpful to me. As VandyPanda also states, she advised me to take 5 classes. (which i am not going to…) and she also stttrrrronnnggllyyy advised me to take a different calc class than I am definitely going to take after reading people’s comments on here.

dubcongress, I also received my transfer credit evaluation via email. Yesterday, in fact. It’s bound to reach you soon.
