Is it safe to bring a laptop to school?

I have a two hour block between my classes, so I was thinking bring my own laptop to use.
But, I also heard that many laptops were stolen in campus.

What do you think guys?

Of course it’s safe! Just be mindful of your belongings and never leave them unattended. I think most of the laptop theft cases stem from someone leaving their laptop on a desk while they get up to use the bathroom or simply forgetting it somewhere. Maybe invest in one of those safety cords for your dorm room as a precaution, but that’s about it. As long as you’re careful, you should be fine.

Best of luck!

Well… I think it’s safe. Only stupid people would steal something that’s right next by you. The only way you could ever lose it is by leaving it some place where you can’t see it, or if you’re too busy distracted mainly.

For me, I feel pretty comfortable bringing my laptop in my backpack everyday without worrying about theft since I’ll always keep a close eye on it, keeping it with me at all times.

Yes, it is safe but you should register it with the UW police and get one of those apps that helps to track it. I only know of one incident. The student in question contacted campus police and they responded immediately. Turns out that it was left in a different classroom and wasn’t stolen. Most likely if one is stolen it is because the owner made some sort of lapse in judgment. Not excusing the thieves of course but it is pretty easy to keep your property safe.
