Hey there,
I am a prospective student at UCSC and was wondering how important class rank is in your opinion to admissions. My school is pretty competitive and I am in the top 38% of my school. I was looking around and saw that most of the accepted students were in the top 10% of their graduating class. Even though I have a 2000 SAT, 3.55GPA and 30 ACT does not being in the top 10% really ruin my chances of getting in because I really hope I end up going to UCSC.

My S got in last year with a UC GPA of 4.12 ACT of 25 and not in the top 10% of his class but in the top 9% of California high school students. Unless you are trying for a very competitive major, I believe you have a good chance.
