Remember to ask and bring anything he wants/needs that wasn’t taken originally. And the trip to a restaurant and grocery/Target/Walmart type stores would be appreciated. Find out locations before going. The fact that you have other in town errands makes this nice.

There is nothing wrong with stopping in, he is still your son. It would be insulting to be in the area and NOT stop in. Seriously.

I went to my son’s college today. Actually, he wanted to come home Friday to get some things. So I picked him up Friday (he doesn’t have a car). Then he wanted to borrow our car, which we did not need for the weekend, so we let him drive the car back to college. Then, we had to drive up there to get the car back today. And our son has only been in class for 4 days also and been going 1.5 weeks. Making a point of pushing him away and not seeing him when you are there anyway is silly.

Thanks for all the input. Sorry I never responded. We went out to Brunch (It was great!) He asked if I could take him for a haircut (As he put it His “surfer look” didn’t quite fit in), and then we watched the game. About a half dozen of his friends stopped by and said “hi.” It was a super visit. He loved telling me about his coach, professors and friends. He went on and on about the food, the new swag he gets from his team, the courses, the activities, his plans, his hopes… He is working hard already and appreciated the break. I think it will be a day that we both remember for a long time.

Perfect! Who wouldn’t want a free brunch and haircut, right? I’m glad it went so well.

For anyone in the Providence area: We ate at Tazza right near Johnson and Wales campus. It was awesome. I highly reccomend it.
