Is it too late to apply for any kind of aid?

loans, need-based, anything? i didnt apply for any aid because i wasnt eligible at all (wasn't a U.S citizen or greencard holder) but today my greencard just came and i am wondering if it is too late to ask for loans.

anyone??? i am kinda in a dire situation!!!

You should be able to now file FAFSA forms and qualify, depending on income, for a Pell Grant, subsidized Stafford loan, work study and state grants. Whether schools that accepted you will give you anything more is another question.

Yours is an unusual situation. Get your FAFSA stuff together and file. Call the schools to ask advice.

Congrats!

Fill out the FAFSA as you would still be eligible for any federal aid that you are entitled to. You will probably be eligible for state aid also.

Good luck

Go for it! You are now eligible with your green card. This means that you QUALIFY for whatever may be available, and it will depend on that–what may be available. Get tax info and W-2s together, if any of that is applicable. Your FAFSA could take no longer than 25 minutes, check it in 2-4 days to see if it has been processed, CHECK for an asterisk next to the EFC number generated on the processes FAFSA (this will make lots more sense when you do it) and if you have the asterisk, you have been selected to be Verified, which mainly means additional paperwork. DO the additional paperwork PROMPTLY! I am writing all these instructions since you are later in the process than many, hence you need to be diligent about it. But many of the early birds will not get around to verifying, so you could get money promised to them, if they do not do their paperwork. Good Luck! And welcome!

haahha thank you everyone! i called my school and that school said its not too late still
