This is my first AP exam and I was wondering three things.
- Is it too late to study AMSCO within a month?
- Where can I buy AMSCO?
- If it is too late, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Pleasee Helpp I’m so scared.

This is my first AP exam and I was wondering three things.
Are you in the class, or are you self-studying?

Well, no point in regretting lateness now. Just make yourself read 2-3 chapters a day, and start working on the FRQ’s and DBQ’s like every day if possible. I guess you could order AMSCO from Amazon, but try to get it at a bookstore if they’ve got it - much quicker.

I don’t wanna buy it from amazon, which store can i get it from. I NEED TO GET A 5! I’m also taking SAT II. I’m soo nervous :(

AMSCO is amazing and get it if you can, but also ask yourself…is the world going to end if you don’t get a 5? Will any college reject you on the sole basis that you got a 3 or 4 rather than a 5? (the answer is no for most colleges.) relax! :)

lol I NEED A 5! I really appreciate the pep talk momo but I just need a 5. Idk why but I will cry if i don’t get a 5. Please tell me where i can get AMSCO.

Umm no offense but I kind of hope you get a 4 now just so you know it’s not the end of the world. WHY do you need a 5? If you don’t have an answer, you obviously don’t need it.

Try the new Direct Hits Book instead; it has less unnecessary info.

where can i get it?

Go to Borders

Is it easy to get a 5 by studying the 2011 P.R. along with Crash Course. I cant seem to find AMSCO at any bookstore so screw it. Is the preceding combination sufficient to receive a 5/800 on the AP Exam/Sat II?

It’s never going to be easy to get a 5, so get that thought out of your head now.

Honestly… you have a month… if I were you I’d relax a bit. I too have yet to start studying for APUSH but I’m not incredibly worried… you should be fine. Just study a bit every night and you’ll be prepared for the exam.

K ill try to chill a bit. Is PR with Crash Course a good combo or DH with Crash Course or AMSCO with CC? My teacher is terrible this is why im realy worried. Keep in mind I have 1 month and im aiming for a 5/800. Thank you for all ur help u guys are truly a great resource.

I completely understand. I am taking the AP Spanish exam and our teacher hasn’t taught us anything. In a few weeks I’ll probably be freaked out too

I’ve heard AMSCO is the best for APUSH, but I’ve seen the Direct Hits book and it looks pretty good as well. I’d probably get both of them if I were you, but you may have to wait a while if you order them online. Try to find either one at a local bookstore or library. Most likely, you won’t be able to find DH. If you can find either of them, order them online.

Good luck!

Trust me, it’s not the end of the world if you don’t get a 5 on the exam! I know many people who’ve gotten into fantastic colleges without stellar AP scores. So don’t sweat it! As long as you have an A in the actual in-class course, you should be fine. Plus, class grades usually correlate with your AP score. If you have an A in the class, you likely know much of the information and should only have to review for 30-odd minutes a day in the month leading up to the exam.

However, getting an A but having a poor teacher or getting by based on things like test corrections and extra credit makes your grade a misrepresentation of your actual knowledge. I ordered the AMSCO book on Saturday and I’m getting it in the mail tomorrow. I plan to read 50 pages a day over Spring Break, finish it, then re-read as much as I can before the exam. I am also going to use it in conjunction with Five Steps to a 5’s “500 Questions to Know” book.

I’ve already read through the entire “main” Five Steps to a 5 book and it’s really great if you need a hearty review in a short amount of time. It really helped me understand some of the more recent American history.

Good luck!

Does it matter what edition of AMSCO I get? The 2001 edition is cheaper but if it is too outdated from the 2003 edition, mind as well get that one. Or would you recommend the DH APUSH book?
