I've always had an ardent passion for math, but unfortunately this year my school gave me all the advanced courses I wanted except for Pre-Calculus Honors. I tried to request the class sever times, but they stuck me in regular Pre-Calculus. The class is literally a joke; I do the homework in class and zone out for the rest of the period. Because I only have one AP class (AP European History) and I feel I have a pretty good grasp of it, I've been contemplating as to whether or not I should self-study an AP Math class (Stats/Calculus AB). I've came to realize that AP Statistics would be a much more pragmatic self-study, especially considering that I want to major in Economics. Should I begin self-studying for AP Statistics or should I just relax?

Note: I'll be in 3-5 AP classes next year and will not have time to self-study an AP exam then.

Also, just because I have a passion for math doesn’t mean I’m great at it. To give you some scores:

740 Math SAT (without studying but it was a diagnostic test at prep center)
600/600 on the STAR test for Algebra 2/Algebra 1 (595 on Geometry).

I’ve also never self-studied an AP exam before and am currently a sophomore. I’m also a capable writer, I normally get 11’s/12’s on the SAT I and high grades in my English class.

It’s not to late. AP Stat is extremely boring. I fight sleeping in my class every day

By boring I also mean easy

Agreed. Statistics is both boring, easy, and taking the actual class is tedious redundant busywork because the point was put across on the first problem and then you repeat the same process 20 times over for the homework.

I took BC calc , then i took AP stat.

Usain Bolt: Paralyzed Chicken

thats analgous to the pace. I think i lost iq points in stat

AP Calculus generates more excitement and curiosity than AP Stats.

I have to say that AP Stats’ calculator function is more tedious than the one of AP Cal.

ehh…I stayed home on the day before the test and I did ok. You should get the flash cards Barron has. They are super useful, much more than the book.

Definitely not too late to self-study. I’ve heard that the AMSCO book is really good; someone told me that the regular Barron’s book has good practice problems, but I haven’t tried any of them yet (too lazy because I’m also taking the class now and it’s really boring…) I think I heard that 5 steps to a 5 is also good for the practice problems? Though I’m not sure if the person was talking about their regular study guide or their 500 mc practice guide. xD
