Is it too late to switch my major?

This is my first time using CC, but after sifting through about a dozen discussions on this matter, I thought I’d just ask:
Is it too late?

I’m currently a sophomore on the business economics track, but I’ve really been thinking about my degree and wondering what I really want to do. Initially I got into this major because 1) I am actually very interested in economics, 2) it seemed like a solid major with many opportunities, and 3) because the pay range for economic based jobs is fantastic.

However, after spending a semester thinking really deeply on my career options, I realized quickly that while the job options are good, I am not interested in them. I lost my motivation for these courses and overall I am afraid that if I continue on this path I will end up with a degree I am not happy with.

At the same time, I have always had an affinity for hospitality and while I have thought multiple times of switching to Hotel and Restaurant Management, I have always been lenient to actually do it, however it has been a lifetime dream this far. I’ve always wanted to go into culinary or some kind of food industry career. I entered college on the idea that I needed to do something that my parents wanted (i.e. business, economics, accounting), and now as I mature in my college career I realize that this is something I need to do to make myself happy. I feel as though HRM is where I am meant to be.

So overall, is it too late to switch? I keep reading things like “don’t switch too late in the game…” is it too late in the game for me?

asking ur adivisor/counselor is probably teh best way to obtain advice over this subject, not this forum

@shaynesco Have you visited the Vick center to discuss this with them? They do advising and career counseling. This might be a good discussion to have with them, especially with registration for next semester already having been done or in progress.
