Is it true admissions officers send a handwritten note to all admitted students?

Hi guys, I heard a rumour that adcoms officers will send a handwritten note to each admitted student. Not sure how true this is, so can a past/current student or someone who has already received their admissions package confirm or deny this. I’m an international applicant, so won’t be receiving my package till earliest tomorrow.

Yes it’s true, at least it was for REA admits this year. (Each letter is indeed specific and unique) Whether RD admits get the same handwritten letter or not, I don’t know.

Hiya, current frosh. Yep, all admitted students – RD too (that’s when I was accepted!) – get a handwritten note from their regional admissions officer. Mine was really sweet.

Yes and they are very personalized like a thoughtful reaction to something in the essays, not just a superficial comment.

What’s even cooler is that during Admit Weekend (end of this month), there’s a meet and greet for the students and another for the parents to meet the admission officers who read your application! We were so impressed to actually talk with the officer who wrote a note to our daughter and how much she specifically remembered about our daughter when we met her!

@DaveMcBob was yours during the REA or RD round?

@slushy ah awesome! my country has a Admitted Students Reception coming up this sunday, so maybe I will meet my adcom officer then

@rabblerowser @DaveMcBob does the personalized letter come with the main package or seperately, because I got my package today with no personalized letter.

This was my child a couple of years ago and IIRC it came in the package they sent after the offer of admission was accepted.

Regarding meeting the admission officers, I want to clarify that on the last day (Saturday morning) of Admit Weekend at the Arrillaga Alumni Center on campus, there was a casual Parents breakfast-social with some of the admissions officers there. A friend whose son attended Stanford told me about this reception and, like her, it was the highlight for us parents to meet our daughter’s admissions officer and the Director of Admissions. I don’t know whether any admission officers will be attending off-campus receptions for admitted students. Stanford is an amazing school and very welcoming (even for us parents with lots of activities)!

@CardinalClub2021 My personalized note came a month or so after the original letter.
