Is it unusual/weird for college men to dress "conservatively"?

I wouldn’t call your style conservative, simplistic seems like the better adjective.

Wear what you want. If you want to wear a plain blue t-shirt and jeans, do it. Button up shirt with a tie and khakis, why not? Leather jacket, graphic tee, and skinny jeans, go right ahead. As long as you’re not exposing your lollipop, wear it.

a well fitted white-t, worn blue jeans and trainers…classic

We don’t have any elite institutions here so I wouldn’t know. But there’s nothing masculine or cool about a polo with chinos.

Ed Hardy is gay as well, I agree. That stuff never really caught on up here, except with gangs.

False statement.

Since I don’t want people to think I don’t bathe (… :frowning: …) should I wear dress clothes to class or would that just be weird (especially in winter with dress clothes and a hoodie)?

You don’t need “dress clothes”, just wear like khakis and an untucked polo/button down that you didn’t get at wal mart.

There are clearly defined social norms for dress. If you don’t follow those norms, you are a second-class citizen. You must wear what everyone else wears. Since most people wear polos, you must do the same.

I’m not sure why this is so hard for people to understand.

“You don’t need “dress clothes”, just wear like khakis and an untucked polo/button down that you didn’t get at wal mart.”

I don’t have those, nor do I want to spend money on them.

I find the “low-key” look works great for me. All darks and neutrals and blue jeans. I don’t like to stand out so I’m totally cool with this. It’s not that big of a deal as no one pays nearly as much attention to your appearance as you probably think so just go with what you like.

“What’s that rap song? “In my white-tee” or something like that?”

Nelly. Grillz.

In my white tee. On South Beach. In my wife beat.

Dem Franchize Boyz also had a White Tee song.

I’m not going to lie. I think white tees look pretty fly. Especially on black dudes. However they can’t be overly big and baggy.

ONLY on black dudes.

The responses in this thread are awful.

And to the original post, are you really asking if wearing jeans, a shirt, and “casual leather shoes” is conservative? Frankly, unless you post a picture of an outfit it’s pretty hard to tell if it’s “conservative” or not. It seems like you started this thread to discuss how you don’t like people wearing shirts that feature brand names.

Besides, asking the question “is it this popular at other schools?” is like asking if people our age wear American Eagle, it’s a no-brainer that it’s everywhere, and there isn’t exactly a scientific way to measure how “popular” it is, ya’know?

I wouldn’t try to apply labels to what you wear, because it doesn’t seem as if you’re wearing anything unique to any one aesthetic, which isn’t unusual because that’s the category the majority of kids fall into.

White tees don’t look good on me and I’m a black guy.

LOL.

They are only hot if you wear them like this:

http://cm1.theinsider.com/media/0/113/56/zacefron17again.0.0.0x0.400x266.jpeg

Sorry, Mr. Efron was the only example I could find. Basically, you must look like a bad-ass. With aviators and leather. Otherwise don’t bother. :D

Zac Efron is possibly the most un-badass guy in hollywood. what a poser. I disagree with the leather jacket. You can wear it, but it isn’t necessary. Every wannabe badass wears one. Actually, I disagree with the aviators as well.

pretty sure you meant this

the thick stubble helps the look big time

i wear white t-shirts all the time. i agree that you should be rugged/masculine or don’t bother.

Leave ZAC EFRON out of this :(

I know but searching ‘guy with white t-shirt’ didn’t come up with much. =(

( Also I was joking )

And I didn’t mean that (LOL) uhm, sorry.

I actually think this is mega hot: http://i99.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/l282/Ellie_Rigby/Reid%20in%20Glasses/spencer_ps0001.jpg

and

http://i53.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/g52/msbae001/TREK/STXI%20Spy%20Photos/st09spock_4.jpg

that guy looks like he could be emilo estevez’s nerdy younger brother.

“Only one black dudes.”

Not true. Baggy might only work on black guys but a fitted white tee looks fine on lots of dudes. The undershirt look basically.
