I wouldn’t call your style conservative, simplistic seems like the better adjective.

Wear what you want. If you want to wear a plain blue t-shirt and jeans, do it. Button up shirt with a tie and khakis, why not? Leather jacket, graphic tee, and skinny jeans, go right ahead. As long as you’re not exposing your lollipop, wear it.

Since I don’t want people to think I don’t bathe (… …) should I wear dress clothes to class or would that just be weird (especially in winter with dress clothes and a hoodie)?

There are clearly defined social norms for dress. If you don’t follow those norms, you are a second-class citizen. You must wear what everyone else wears. Since most people wear polos, you must do the same.

I’m not sure why this is so hard for people to understand.

I find the “low-key” look works great for me. All darks and neutrals and blue jeans. I don’t like to stand out so I’m totally cool with this. It’s not that big of a deal as no one pays nearly as much attention to your appearance as you probably think so just go with what you like.

And to the original post, are you really asking if wearing jeans, a shirt, and “casual leather shoes” is conservative? Frankly, unless you post a picture of an outfit it’s pretty hard to tell if it’s “conservative” or not. It seems like you started this thread to discuss how you don’t like people wearing shirts that feature brand names.

Besides, asking the question “is it this popular at other schools?” is like asking if people our age wear American Eagle, it’s a no-brainer that it’s everywhere, and there isn’t exactly a scientific way to measure how “popular” it is, ya’know?

I wouldn’t try to apply labels to what you wear, because it doesn’t seem as if you’re wearing anything unique to any one aesthetic, which isn’t unusual because that’s the category the majority of kids fall into.

Sorry, Mr. Efron was the only example I could find. Basically, you must look like a bad-ass. With aviators and leather. Otherwise don’t bother. :D

Zac Efron is possibly the most un-badass guy in hollywood. what a poser. I disagree with the leather jacket. You can wear it, but it isn’t necessary. Every wannabe badass wears one. Actually, I disagree with the aviators as well.
