These are the 2 main ECs that reflect on my effort and work.
ECs: Research in the emerging field of microfluidics (nanotech), research in the area of parkinsons in elucidating the interactions between the newly discovered gene (LRRK2 ) with protein signaling transduction pathways, and finally completed research in developing a new biofuel cell.
Medical club: formed school group of Hosa, participating in public health projects for educating low income people and communities, and etc
Recs: from biology teacher who will elaborate on my research and contributions in medical club. Rec from a biophysics professor from the local university (He received a phd from Harvard), rec also from another faculty member from the same university who is the head of a biology lab there.
potential hooks: urm (black/african male, first to go to college, and research)
Please be honest
I doubt I have a chance really and I am not a troll

I think all of these schools are matches, but only if you show enough passion for your extracurriculars in your essays…make them good!
your gpa really brings you down, but you never really know what these schools are looking for. plus, your scores are excellent…
good luck!

Wow. You’re EC’s and test scores are fantastic. But your GPA does put you way on the low side.

Do your grades trend upward? Do you have extenuating circumstances, an explanation of which might find its way into your application? Were your courses freshman through junior years rigorous?

Remember it’s not just a question of your qualifications, but you, relative to the other applicants. Your application will need to be very compelling. With Chicago, you’ll have to knock the ball out of the park on the essay. They might be the most flexible with your GPA. I would be most pessimistic about Duke.

If you apply to these schools, be sure you also apply to some lower tier schools, so you have some choices. A state school with good honors program could be a good pick, though it would not have the cachet of these schools. I think it’s ok to stretch, but be sure that you leave enough time to do a great job with each application.
