I attend one of the top public schools in the country (ranked in the top 50 nationally)
GPA: 3.85/4 UW (school doesn't weight, about a 92)
ACT: 33
SAT: didn't send
AP's: AP US (4), AP Psych, AP Micro, AP Macro, AP Calculus AB

EC's: Table Tennis League (Nationally rated table tennis player, member of USATT, played in multiple USATT sanctioned tournaments, youngest person in league, played since 8th grade, hoping this is unique enough to stand out since most people only view table tennis as a hobby), Sports Management Class with local soccer team (learned inner workings of sports teams, 4 month long class), Youth Group with church for a year, Confirmation class with church (to prepare for my Confirmation), a few summer camps, and National Honor Society (I'm worried I stretched some of the EC's and I don't really have any that stand out).

Work: I have been a cashier at Wegmans (grocery store) since after freshman year, and I'm in my 3rd year working there

Community Service: Participated in Relay For Life for 3 years

I'm worried that I don't have enough EC's to stand out among the other applicants, but I'd like to see what everyone else thinks. Thanks!

UPenn - Reach
UVA - Reach
UChicago - Reach
UMich - High Match ~ Reach (not sure what you’re applying to)

Not sure about USC.

Your ECs are fine. Make sure to maximize your potential by polishing up the essays.

The cashier can be a potentially touching essay, especially since you’ve done it for 3 years. Same for the table tennis; it could show a particularly important part of your personality.

My Common App essay was about my job as a cashier (day in the life kind of thing), and I wrote about table tennis for some of my supplementals. By the way, I am applying to the business school at UMich, but if I don’t get in (which I won’t) I’d reapply after my freshman year.

So, you’re applying to Wharton at Penn? Your common app sounds good, just make sure your Penn essay is genuine and that it doesn’t sound like you’re just applying “for the heck of it.” If you need someone to look at your essays, I’d be glad to. If you end up getting into Penn though, I really doubt you’d be transferring to Michigan after your first year lol

I meant if I get into Michigan, but not the business school, I’d attend for a year then reapply to the business school when the chances are better. I am applying to Wharton, and my essay makes it sound like it’s my top choice by far, I talked about how I love business and the city in general, but much more specifically.

Thanks whartondreamer, but I live in NY and getting into Virginia is ridiculously hard. 3/47 have made it at my school, so I’d consider that a reach for myself but everything else looks good

Your really strong commitment to table tennis should help out.

Wharton would be a high reach (as it is for basically everyone)
UChicago is a high reach too,
UVA/UMich/USC are matches (High, Mid, Mid)
Ross would be a mid-reach.

Thanks for the input and yea i have put a ton of time into table tennis and my job, and those are my two main extra curriculars, but I’m worried I don’t have much more than that which won’t look good

Actually, I’m nationally RATED not ranked, but I wish I was ranked haha. I’m rated about a 800 out of about 2500 which is pretty good but I’m nowhere near being nationally ranked. I still think it’s a solid EC to put on my app though

For UMich, your ACT is at 75% while your GPA is right at average. LSA should be a match to high match. Ross would be a low reach. Did you apply EA?
