Is it worth appealing to UCI for Business?

I got rejected from UCI for undergrad Business Admin major, but I got accepted into UCR and was wondering if it’s worth the time and effort to appeal to UCI. I know UCR’s business program is strong but UCI has a better name although I haven’t heard much about it’s business programs.

Have you done something really significant since submitting your app? If nothing has changed, they won’t change their decision. Also, think of it this way – you didn’t get waitlisted, and very few people who are waitlisted even get in. As a result, it is beyond unlikely that you will be offered a spot.

I am not trying to be harsh at all, but I really don’t think it is a good idea to waste your time trying to appeal the decision unless you have done something incredibly impressive. Besides, congrats on getting into UCR! If they have a strong business program, then you are in the right place. A college’s name is not a reason to appeal – UCR is a great school, and since it is strong in your intended major, you should be happy to have been accepted  Good luck!

Well I was considering mentioning the reasons why my grades were low in first semester of both my junior and senior year; I briefly talked about it in my essays and I thought it might worth a chance.

Speak to your guidance or college counselor. I’m sure he/she would be the best person to give you advice based on your situation.

@cc8912 Thank you for your help! I guess UCR isn’t that bad anyway and since they have my major, more of a reason to go there.

High grades received in the senior year, recently acquired awards, or an increase in activities are not a basis for the reversal of a decision.
If you have some compelling reason not mentioned in your original application, then yes it might be worth your time to appeal. If not, UCR is a very good choice for Business.
