For this entire time, I wondered on what exact score should I reach to have a likelihood to go UPenn. Like many others, I studied as much as I can. Unfortunately, I only managed to gain a 1050 on my first test and 1100 on my second (both with the essay). I searched through the SAT category where I saw students excelled from 1300 and beyond. Now, I just don’t feel as confident as I was before. My transcript is full of A’s. I have a unweighted GPA score of 4.0. And I rank #2 out of 143 in my school’s class rank. Do I still have a chance or should I give on my dream of being in UPenn?
As you ascertain, that score is severely out of range for applicants to top schools. For comparison, my kid’s high ranked HS has an average SAT above 1300 – and only gets a small handful of kids into competitive schools each year.
YOu should expend your efforts on schools where you’re likely to attain admission. Have you used the SuperMatch tool on the left panel? I think it’s best to leave Penn behind.
Of course you are free to spend the time, energy, and money to apply – but as noted above your SATs are way too low to make you a competitive applicant. You may be better off focusing on schools that meet your academic stats or test optional schools. http://www.fairtest.org/university/optional
