I know I can't afford NYU/my parents will definitely not pay for it. I mean I'd really love to go, but almost everyone I know got absolutely no financial aid. So should I even apply if I probably won't be able to go due to financial reasons?

If you have really solid stats, NYU gives great financial aid. My understanding is that the FA at NYU is more heavily merit based.

apply. You NEVER know.
My son graduated from NYU CAS 2011

His SAT was 2230.
My EFC during his time there was 11-13K (when it was a FAFSA only school)

My son is white and went to a urban charter high school. I’m a single parent (my son has never met his father, nor did I ever get $$ from him.

When we opened his acceptance letter in April 2007, I could not believe what I saw. They gave him $ 30,000 in scholarship money. He had Perkins loan of 2400 and subsidized stafford loan of 3500 for freshman year, and work study and I was still going to pay my EFC.

Over the course of 4 years, my son received $125,000 in scholarship money, I probably spent $ 60,000 of my own money and he graduated with about $29,000 in loans.
