I want to learn Japanese but is it really worth it to learn a language at NYU when I'm paying 52k? There are just a lotta other things that interests me and I don't know if I want to waste my classes on Japanese when I can just take Japanese classes in the summer or outside the classroom and sorta self-teach which is obviously A LOT cheaper.

I know the MAP requires everyone to take foreign language but I already got a 5 on Chinese AP so I guess I'm not required to take a language at NYU.

I hear the italian program is great so I'm going to take that even though I'll probly get a 5 on the ital AP. but it really depends on what you want; there are a limited amount of classes you can take, esp in gsp, and if you think japanese is worth your time/money then take it. otherwise go with the summer class option.
personally I want to take like 3 languages...like italian, french and german haha not gonna happen in gsp :)

I have to take Greek or Latin for my Classics major, though I wanted to learn Italian or French.
