Is it worth it to take the ap studio art test?

I’m going to major in mechanical engineering.
Also, do I have to tell colleges I’m not going to take it anymore?

If you’re a senior, and if the college gives credit, why not? If it doesn’t, it’s a waste of money.

By it, you mean the exam? Generally, no, you do not need to tell them.

Okay, I’m looking at UCLA for example, http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/APCreditEN.htm and it is listed for art credits, but would art credits make a difference?
Okay thank you.
@skieurope‌

Sure, you get some credit, and maybe knock out some gen ed requirements. I’m not really seeing a downside.

Perfect, thank you. That’s what I was thinking, but then I started doubting myself. I appreciate it! @skieurope‌

I was under the impression that AP Studio Art does not have an actual test but is based on a portfolio of work done.

@Sdgal2‌ is correct. AP studio art is not an exam, but a portfolio review.

@Sdgal2‌ @guineagirl96‌ Correct. I was just wondering if the credits would be of any use for me and skieurope helped answer my question. Thanks anyways!

Yes, it’s a portfolio review, but I knew what the OP meant and was not going to get into semantics.

One person I know said that their AP credits allowed them to skip a foundations class. This was especially nice for them, as they planned to major in something else, and wanted to minor in art with plenty of time in the studios. They loved geting to start with studio classes instead of the foundations class. Another reason to do it! Has anyone ever submitted at the end of sophomore year, and then again at the end of junior? DD has 3 - 4 pieces ready to go, and is a rising sophomore. I was thinking it might be nice to get it finished before junior year if she happens to get an acceptable score.
