Is it worth the headache of transferring from low CSU (San Marcos) to SDSU for grad school chances?

I am a freshman Econ major in my very first semester at a pretty low tier CSU school: San Marcos. Is it worth the headache of transferring to a CC, doing a year and a half there, and then transferring to SDSU to finish my degree in Economics to improve chances of better grad schools?

I am looking into UC Riverside and UCSD's programs for their MSci in Finance programs, as well as both of their, and Irvine's Ph.D. in Economics programs. Is there any realistic chance of being a doctor in my field if I hold an undergrad from tiny little San Marcos?

Thanks everyone.

Why not ask people at each program if they care where you graduate from?

Do you just call or email?
