Is IUP a suitcase school?

Is Indiana University Of Pennsylvania a suitcase school?

I'm having second thoughts on transferring there after a year of CC

My main reason on transferring is simply to get a social life, and it is a decent state school

any opinions?

Yes, it is.

So is the social scene their lame? Are there still a lot of kids that stay on the actual campus?

What schools should I look at if I want a good social scene, decent coursework, and not be spending $20k per year to stay there? (I don’t really qualify for any financial aid)

Go to Temple.

why not do a second year and go to penn state or pitt?

Well PSU is pretty expensive and I don’t qualify for that much aid. Isn’t the cost of attendence at PSU around 25k? I mean IUP is around 14-15k which is significantly cheaper, and I’d get to stay their for about 3 years, instead of going to PSU for one year, returning then only having one year left you know? I dunno…

I’m from the IUP area and the school is not bad. From the students I talked to, many said they enjoy it and find there is a good social scene. Another school in the area that is similar to IUP is Slippery Rock. Check them out and see what you think!
