What sorts of opportunities are available to kids interested in journalism? Is the school newspaper popular? Are there abundant resources for journalism? Thanks!
There isn’t a lot of emphasis on activities, such as the school newspaper, but you should be able to get on it. There are strong and popular programs in English, writing seminars, and international relations, which might be applicable. You could also major in humanities, or something more technical if you are interested in specialty journalism. You could follow up with professional school in journalism. I don’t think you can study journalism as such at Hopkins, and this is true at most of the Ivies.
Russel Baker, the erudite columnist for the NY Times was a Hopkins English major. I believe there several Hopkins alumni at that paper. IMO, it might be a good choice if journalism is your goal.
Thanks! This totally answered my question
